Bishops Run

The majestic River Teifi, is over seventy miles long from its source in the Cambrian mountains past Tregaron to its estuary at Cardigan Bay. The river is home to salmon, sea trout (known locally as 'sewin'), brown trout and grayling. The main run for sea trout is from June to August, and for salmon from April to June for the Spring run with the main autumn run occuring towards the end of the season in late September / early October. Summer grilse runs are unpredictable, dependent wholly on the rainfall, often being deferred by a dry summer until the period of the autumn salmon run.
Cenarth Falls offers the opportunity to witness salmon negotiating the local waterfall, whilst most of the length of the river offers unspoilt solitude and unrivaled scenic beauty.

Second salmon This is the second salmon that I caught. A few hours earlier I had stumbled on some rocks and fallen into the river. This shameful episode was more than compensated for by the capture of this fish - perhaps the smile says it all!

Note the leather peel sling is left wrapped round my body, though the gye net is detached (on the ground near my right foot). Reinstating the net requires that the peel sling is removed, the gye net frame handle is placed through the ring (seen in the photo on my chest) and the releasing strap is threaded through the lower junction of the handle and frame (see: Using a Gye net )
